While their demand to the state government for granting financial relief remains pending, self-financed schools have come forward to offer some respite to worried parents. The Gujarat State Self-Finance School Management Association, which has a representation of 5,500 schools, has written to all its members to offer fee waivers to parents who have either lost jobs, got salary cuts or suffered losses in business due to financial Covid-19 pandemic induced economic meltdown. “We have asked the schools to take a written application from parents who have been financially hit due to coronavirus pandemic giving out their financial details seeking respite in school fees,” said Bharat Gajipura, president of the association. The school management will then call such parents and then it will be mutually decided on the payment of school tuition fees for the 2020-21 academic year. “The school trustees will decide on a case to case basis whether to give a three-month grace period in fee payment or give 10-25% concession in fee,” said Gajipura. He said that during such testing times, the schools and the parents have to sit across the table and work out a solution to this problem. Archit Bhatt, president of Ahmedabad Schools Progressive Management Association, said they have also decided to offer an extended timeline for payment of fees. "More than 50% parents are yet to pay fees for the month of June. If this scenario is prolonged, it will adversely impact teachers' salaries. ‘Schools may take fee in installments’MP Chandra, management trustee at Asia School, said they have intimated parents about reaching out to the school for fee-related concerns. "We are open to considering payment of fees in instalments," said Chandra. . Manan Choksi, a trustee at Udgam School said about 70% parents have paid school fees and as many as 300 of them have paid fees for the full academic year. “Our association is ready to extend all the support we can to the parents reeling under the financial crunch triggered by Covid-pandemic. The finer details can be mutually agreed upon by parents and the school," said Choksi, a former president of Ahmedabad Schools Project Management Association. Recently a school in the Walled City area of Ahmedabad - J P High School announced full waiver in monthly school fees for class 1 to class 8 students from April 20 to October 20. Education lobby is most corrupt lobby in the country, all political parties as well as courts as well are hand in glove with it. Teachers salaries makes fraction of what the school charge from parents, so logic of justify fees does not stand a merit. Supreme court will also be managed by same lobby….

What’s a school fee, its a contract between the school n parents, my child uses the school premises ,requiring maintenance, i pay for it. school library,i pay for it. Uttilize the service of teaching from teachers in person which include 7 to 8 lectures par day, which require payment to teachers,i pay for it sits in class uses fan, tube light, school computer which require electricity, i pay for it. uses bathrooms of school which requires cleaning equipments,i pay for it. I pay to school as my child utilises all theses services Now when when u are not providing any of these facilities, why should I pay the whole fee, as simple as that. No parent is demanding entire waiver of fee, divide the fee in no of educational month’s, waive the fee for month’s not used, will pay the rest.
