Gujarat Government declared unlock 5.0 Guidelines 2020
In the first phase of unwinding, the Ministry of Home Affairs has allowed re-opening of malls, hotels, restaurants and places of worship from June 8. Whereas in the second phase, schools, colleges, educational/training/coaching institutions would be re-opened in consultation with states and Union Territories. A decision on the reopening of these institutions will be taken in July.
On September 30, 2020, the Ministry of Home Affairs issued guidelines for activities permitted in Unlock 5.0. [72]. For schools it has a preference for online learning if possible, but States and Union Territories will be able to make those decisions from the 15th of October.
The West Bengal government on Saturday extended the Covid-19 lockdown till June 15, but eased more curbs a day after announcing the first round of relaxations. The government said the lockdown would continue in containment zones, but activities would be restarted in other areas.
As the end of the first lockdown period approached, state governments and other advisory committees recommended extending the lockdown.[6] The governments of Odisha and Punjab extended the state lockdowns to 1 May.[7] Maharashtra, Karnataka, West Bengal and Telangana followed suit.[8][9] On 14 April, Prime minister Narendra Modi extended the nationwide lockdown until 3 May, with a conditional relaxations after 20 April for the regions where the spread had been contained or was minimal.[10]
The Tamil Nadu government extended the ongoing lockdown till June 30, albeit with more relaxations that included partial opening up of public transport and allowing more employees at workplaces. Chief Minister K Palaniswami said the curbs on places of worship, all kinds of religious gatherings, inter-state bus transport and Metro and suburban train services will continue. Tourists entry will remain banned into the hilly Nilgiris district and Kodaikanal and Yercaud towns, while hotels and resorts, except for accommodating health and police personnel and government staff for quarantine purpose, will be closed.
4.41 pm: Prabhdeep Kaur, Deputy Director of the National Institute of Epidemiology, says Tamil Nadu government will take a decision on extension of lockdown based on the district level situation. “Expert group recommended that analysis of various epidemiological indicators and field situation might be considered while making the decision,” she tweets.
7.37 pm: Maharashtra reports 5,257 new coronavirus cases and 181 deaths, reports News18. The state now has 1,69,883 total infections and the toll has risen to 7,610. Meanwhile, Mumbai records 1,226 new cases and 92 deaths, taking the total in the city to 76,765 cases with 4,463 deaths.
Despite the launching of special trains and buses by the government, the migrant workers chose to either travel together in large groups. They did not wait their turn to board the government-arranged transport, mainly due to starvation and eagerness to reach their homes soon.[110] Additionally, they felt that going back to their hometowns, they could return to farming and take up small jobs under the MNREGA.[111]
Besides this, swimming pools used for training of sportspersons will also be permitted to open, for which the standard operating procedure will be issued by the government. Even entertainment parks and similar places will be permitted to open, for which the SOPs will be issued by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.
The UP government on Sunday allowed interstate travel but left it to the district administrations of Ghaziabad and Noida to take a call on the movement of people from adjoining New Delhi. In guidelines on the next phase of the coronavirus lockdown, Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary R K Tiwari said, “There is no ban on interstate and intra-state movement by persons or goods.”
8.08 pm: Nagaland records 36 new coronavirus cases, taking the state’s tally to 451. State Health Minister S Pangnyu Phom says 18 new cases were reported from Jakhama Army Camp quarantine centre in Kohima district, 17 from Tuensang district and one from Peren district.
